National and international karter, Annabel Kennedy, successfully completed her inaugural Formula 4 () test with Ambition GP, a critical step as she prepares for her international racing debut.
The day began with an intensive introduction to the car’s safety and control systems, including mastering the notoriously difficult racing clutch. Utilising the full Qld Raceway National Circuit, Annabel faced an immediate challenge that highlights the physics of high-performance formulae race cars. In the initial slow laps with tire temps down, an car has yet to build enough airspeed over its wings to generate significant aerodynamic grip. Compounded by cold tires and a light spinkling of rain on the racing surface, the reliance on mechanical grip alone resulted in a spin—a valuable, real-time lesson in car control.
Unfased and certainly keen to proceed, Annabel adapted immediately. As she began to build speed, the car’s aerodynamics came alive, planting it to the track. Her confidence surged, and with the newfound grip, she consistently lowered her lap times, demonstrating a quick grasp of advanced race craft over the 52 laps completed.
This successful outing marks a key milestone for Annabel, who is set to make her international debut when the 2025 FIA Indian F4 Championship begins on August 15th.
